Hi, I’m Kate, an experienced and passionate event and wedding stylist.
I have always had a love of style and design, which began when studying for an MA in fashion and technical textiles.
After gaining a first class degree from Nottingham Trent University, I worked in the UK, Europe, USA and China designing clothing and technical sportswear for over 10 years.
What Katy Does began in 2008 (named after the 1872 novel I have always loved) in a small shop in Devon. Filled with local, handmade and ethically sourced items, from this little shop I stocked everything needed to create bespoke events and gifts for my loyal clients who regularly requested a professional event and wedding stylist service.
From small intimate weddings and tea parties to show homes and corporate events, What Katy Does organically grew into an event and wedding styling company.
Now working across Nottingham, Derbyshire, Leicester and Lincolnshire, my passion for elegant, authentic, natural and organic event and wedding styling remains.
Working with an ‘event and wedding stylist’ doesn’t have to be intimidating or costly, I work with my clients to create bespoke and unique style visions. Collaborating together to create a style which is authentic to them.
My ethos: Well-designed events and spaces created with stylish simplicity, design led inspiration coupled with a love of the natural, handmade and elegant.
Inspired by the natural world around me, I use seasonal influences and work with natural materials such as wood, willow and wild flowers, herbs, paper and textiles to create handcrafted and personal items and events for private and corporate clients
I love working with talented, local, ethical suppliers whose creativity and imagination continue to inspire me. I work exclusively with artists, suppliers and collaborators whose work is of the highest quality (and are genuinely lovely people).
